Destination Lake City is a not-for-ptofit community organization (501-c3) dedicated to Making Lake City a vibrant place to live, work, play and visit.
Destination Lake City (DLC) proactively collects, evaluates and prioritizes ideas of interest and value to the greater Lake City community and then serves as a catalyst for supporting, developing and implementing strategies that advance those ideas which promote DLC's vision
Destination Lake City (DLC) began as a group of like minded community members during the early summer of 2014. It evolved into a membership group of people who share their love, enthusiasm and commitment for Lake City and the City’s growth and development. We became a 501(c)3 in early 2015 and adopted the name ‘Destination Lake City’ at that time. Although DLC has limited financial resources, we are proud of our members’ active, energetic and creative approach to identifying opportunities and seeking solutions through practical and realistic planning and implementation.
We work with community members who share our enthusiasm for these four goals:
DLC played a major role in the 100th year celebration of the invention of water skiing on the shores of Lake Pepin, as well as the 50th year celebration of Water Ski Days weekend (2022).
DLC initiated the creation and dedication of the historical monument and tribute to Ralph Samuelson, the inventor of water skiing. The unveiling of this statue took place on July 2, 2022 at Ohuta Park, where he first water skied on July 2, 1922.
DLC supported the new highway infrastructure initiative completed in the Fall of 2021.
DLC supports and organizes an annual cleaning and beautification of our water front and beaches.
DLC supports continued improvement of Lake City’s downtown, parks and waterfront. We also encourage support of all of our local businesses.
DLC works with elected officials (City, County, District, State) to secure desirable developments for Lake City.
